![]() We conducted data and content analyses, observations, a survey and interviews with users of our application. Therefore, we developed the UniDisplay application and did an in-the-wild-deployment to investigate the impacts of moderation delays on user behavior. Moreover, they expected their messages to appear instantly. Survey participants mostly specified that content moderation is necessary and preferred a reactive moderation strategy. To do this, we conducted an online survey. We developed an app store for public displays and analyzed six potential moderation strategies for, in particular, user-generated content. Although applications showing dynamic content which could reduce the display blindness exist, distribution channels and concepts for successfully moderating user-generated content on public displays are still missing. Public displays showing static content such as news and advertisement are very common, but are often ignored of users expecting them to show uninteresting content. If public spaces can leverage cost-effective, security-focused solutions such as ours, we believe they can turn into smart spaces, enabling more freedom of computer use within them. We employ the use of an authenticated messaging system by reusing fields within BLE beacons to enforce security controls that protect the smart space's resources from access and availability attacks. We address fairness for public interface sharing by designing a lightweight middleware solution that inserts a control layer between USB keyboard and mouse events relayed to mobile devices over a Bluetooth HCI service.
